Diablo 4 Season 10 - PTR 2.4.0 Class Balance & Early Tier List

Aug-21-2025 PST

Diablo 4 Season 10, titled Infernal Chaos, is arriving this September, and Blizzard is opening the 2.4.0 PTR soon to let players test out the new balance changes, chaos perks, and unique items. After a lopsided Season 9 meta where Hydra Sorcerers and Pulverize Druids were lightyears ahead of everyone else, the community has been vocal about wanting a shakeup. Season 10 promises buffs, nerfs, and adjustments designed to bring more variety, giving each class at least one or two competitive builds.

The PTR is where this new balance is being tested, and early impressions already point to major winners and losers in the upcoming season. Below is a breakdown of the Season 10 PTR Tier List, including the key changes, chaos perks, and best builds for each class.

1. Sorcerer (S Tier)

The Sorcerer continues to reign supreme in Season 10, despite nerfs to Hydra. The Serpentine Aspect lost some of its damage bonus, and mana sustain is weaker with the affix changes, but Hydra now benefits from chaos uniques that allow stacking multiple Hydra-related effects on Diablo IV gear. This opens up previously impossible combinations and skyrockets Hydra back to the top.

Lightning builds also get love with buffs to Charge Bolts, Chain Lightning, and Crackling Energy, giving Sorcs strong alternatives. On top of that, the new Mana Shield chaos perk introduces a clever survivability tradeoff, letting Sorcs convert life into mana that scales with Intelligence and regen.

Best Builds:

· Hydra Sorcerer (S Tier): Huge scaling, clear speed, and beginner-friendly.

· Ice Shards Sorcerer (A Tier): Strong for endgame farming.

· Blizzard Sorcerer (A Tier): Consistent and flexible for high-tier clears.

2. Druid (A+ Tier)

The Druid cements itself as one of the strongest classes in Season 10. The standout is the Flesh Render Druid, which now triggers on autocasts, creating endless damage loops and explosions. Combined with defensive spam, this can reach broken numbers.

The new Wild Transformation perk adds free skills and big bonuses when shapeshifting, while Companion builds scale harder than ever thanks to uniques like Kilt of Blackwing, which doubles raven damage and summons extra flocks. Poison Pulverize also rises again after bug fixes, supported by chaos perks like Beast Cornered for insane boosts.

Best Builds:

· Flesh Render Druid (S Tier): Unmatched autocast synergy.

· Companion Raven Druid (S Tier): Massive summon scaling, fun playstyle.

· Poison Pulverize Druid (A Tier): Bug fixes make it reliable and powerful.

3. Spiritborn (A Tier)

The newcomer class, Spiritborn, makes a solid debut. The Jaguar Spirit Hall loses its overtuned Aspect of Plane's Power synergy, but chaos perks like Beast Cornered keep it competitive. The real highlight is the Eagle Spirit Hall rework: storm feathers now trigger from casting or evading, making eagle builds smoother and faster.

With buffs to Crushing Hand, Stinger, and Rake, Spiritborn have strong core options, and new uniques like Protector gloves open up new styles. They won't dominate like Sorcerers or Druids, but they're already a fun and viable pick.

Best Builds:

· Eagle Spiritborn (A Tier): High-scaling storm feather spam.

· Jaguar Thorns Spiritborn (A Tier): Still strong despite nerfs.

· Protector Spiritborn (B Tier): Unique-driven build with situational power.

4. Necromancer (B Tier)

Necros get some love in Season 10, but they're still middle of the pack. Shadow builds shine with a reworked Wither node granting a 300% bonus proc chance, making Shadow Blight Necros capable of trillions of damage when paired with corpse explosions. However, Blood and Bone setups remain underwhelming.

Minions now revive automatically when the player does, a nice quality-of-life buff, but it doesn't solve their survivability issues. The class is still fun, just outpaced by Druids and Sorcs.

Best Builds:

· Shadow Blight Necro (A Tier): Huge potential with Wither synergy.

· Blood Wave Necro (B Tier): Stable, defensive overpower build.

· Corpse Explosion Necro (C Tier): Still weak despite buffs.

5. Barbarian (B Tier)

Barbarians make progress this season with buffs to Bleed. Two-handed sword expertise now always gives +30% bleed damage, rupture radius is doubled, and bleed durations are longer. The new Saber of Seagull uniquely creates a stacking-damage mechanic that rewards hybrid playstyles, while Dust Devil and Frenzy uniques also see improvements.

Even with these changes, Barbs still don't match Sorcerers or Druids in raw burst damage, but their sustained DoT potential makes them more viable than before.

Best Builds:

· Bleed Barbarian (B Tier): Finally respectable in endgame farming.

· Whirlwind Barbarian (B Tier): Still reliable with unique buffs.

· Throw Barbarian (C Tier): Fun but niche.

6. Rogue (C Tier)

Unfortunately, the Rogue takes the biggest hit this season. Their best build, Twisting Blades, has been nerfed again, and while Barrage, Penetrating Shot, and Rapid Fire were buffed, it's not enough to make them competitive with top-tier builds.

The new Orphan Maker adds a unique reload mechanic with massive 300–600% bonus damage, but its clunky playstyle holds it back. Chaos perks bring some fun effects like random imbues or double-hitting skills, yet overall the class lacks survivability and scaling compared to others.

Best Builds:

· Twisting Blades Rogue (B Tier): Playable but weaker than before.

· Marksman Rogue (B Tier): Decent improvements, but not meta.

· Reload Rogue (C Tier): Relies on Orphan Maker, but awkward to use.

Final Thoughts – Diablo 4 Season 10 Tier List

As the 2.4.0 PTR shakes out, here's the early Season 10 class ranking:

· S Tier: Sorcerer, Druid

· A Tier: Spiritborn, Shadow Necro

· B Tier: Barbarian, Blood Necro, Marksman Rogue

· C Tier: Corpse Explosion Necro, Reload Rogue

Overall, Season 10 looks healthier for class balance compared to Season 9. Sorcerers and Druids are still dominant, but Spiritborn enter strong, Necromancers and Barbarians finally feel competitive, and even Rogues—while struggling—still have fun experimental playstyles.

The PTR period will reveal more tuning, but it's clear that Infernal Chaos is shaping up to be one of Diablo 4's most exciting and diverse seasons yet.
