Skull and Bones Season 3: About Rise to Power, Faction Wars, and More

Oct-22-2025 PST

Season 3 of Skull and Bones has officially set sail, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest content drops yet. Ubisoft has added a wealth of new systems, rewards, cosmetics, and progression mechanics that make life on the high seas more exciting than ever. Whether you’re a grizzled smuggler or just climbing your way up through the world tiers, there’s plenty to unpack in this latest season.

New Questlines and Main Missions

Once you log in, you’ll notice a fresh set of quests, including the “Rise to Power” and “Mark Trail” missions. These quests continue the main story (you can spot them by the skull icons with a sun over them) and are designed to push your progression deeper into the new world systems.

For those who haven’t reached World Tier 2 yet, it’s time to grind. Access to the new Faction Wars feature requires World Tier 2 status, so you’ll need to complete your mainline missions before you can participate in this season’s most exciting addition.

Faction Wars and Seasonal Journey

Season 3 introduces a major new feature — Faction Wars, where players can align themselves with different factions and compete for dominance across the seas. This ties directly into the Seasonal Journey, a system that lets players progress through story-driven contracts and unlock nodes that provide rewards, lore, and cosmetic items.

There’s also a Seasonal Hub, your one-stop area to check on your faction progress, seasonal challenges, and leaderboard standings. The leaderboard works much like before — earn Infamy to climb the ranks and collect Guild Marks as your primary seasonal currency. Bronze-tier rewards start you off with small bonuses, but as you rise through the ranks, the loot gets significantly better.

Smuggler’s Pass: New Rewards and Cosmetics

The Smuggler’s Pass returns this season with multiple tiers — Quartermaster, Gun Master, and Ship Master — each offering unique rewards for your ship and crew.

· Quartermaster Tier: Features the Flame Scourge Grace set and several new decorative Skull and Bones items.

· Gun Master Tier: Focused on weapons and equipment; players can experiment with new poison-infused upgrades.

· Ship Master Tier: Offers ship cosmetics, including new hull designs and blueprints.

One of the highlights of this season’s Smuggler’s Pass is the Rot Mouth cosmetic line, offering fiery visual effects that make your ship stand out in battle. The Sloop of War remains a major unlockable at level 40, and new ship skins — such as a striking design for the Snow — are also available.

The Hunt for Torpedoes and Blightbringers

Many players have been curious about the rumored torpedoes. While they don’t appear directly in the Smuggler’s Pass, it seems they’ll be tied to event rewards later in the season. However, players can already get their hands on the Blightbringer — a new top-deck weapon available for purchase from Blackwood at Saint-Anne for Guild Marks.

In addition, new poison weapon mods are being added to the game, offering exciting new options for both PvE and PvP encounters. Expect to experiment with different builds as you mix poison damage with your existing setups.

Blueprints, Gear, and Store Additions

The in-game store has received a healthy update this season, including a selection of blueprints and new crafting materials. Players can now purchase items like:

· Heaven’s Bandate Blueprints

· Bloody Red Shot Carving Station

· Rhapsody of the Deep

· Infernal M. Blueprints

You’ll also find Summoning Bells in the store — tools that let you summon Sea Lords directly without waiting for a spawn timer. These cost around 1,000 Skull and Bones Silver each and make it much easier to target specific bosses or farming routes.

Missed any pets from previous seasons? Good news — several legacy pets are available for Guild Marks, so you can catch up on collectibles you may have missed.

Ascension System: Upgrading Armor and Weapons

One of the biggest gameplay improvements in Season 3 is the Ascension System, which allows players to upgrade and reforge their equipment with greater control.

You can now lock in specific mods before reforging, ensuring that valuable traits don’t get lost in the process. Once a mod is locked, you can reroll its values up to 15 times to increase its strength. For example, locking in a “Hull Health” mod lets you fine-tune the bonus amount rather than risk losing it entirely.

Armor ascension also introduces several new perks:

· Flooding Resistance

· Toxic and Explosive Resistance

· All-Resistance Boosts

· Increased Hull Health (up to +5,000 HP)

Weapons have similar flexibility, allowing you to refine stats like damage, critical hit rate, or elemental effects. This system gives players much deeper customization than before and is easily one of the most impactful updates of the season.

Visual and World Updates

Season 3 brings subtle but noticeable visual improvements, including dynamic cloud coverage and improved environmental effects across the map. These touches make long voyages feel more atmospheric and immersive.

Final Thoughts

Skull and Bones Season 3 feels like a strong step forward for Ubisoft’s evolving pirate adventure. With Faction Wars, the Ascension System, and the expanded Smuggler’s Pass, there’s more to grind, explore, and customize than ever before.

Whether you’re aiming to master the seas with poison weaponry, build the toughest hull through ascension upgrades, or climb the seasonal leaderboards, this update gives players meaningful reasons to dive back in.
